Over the past couple weeks, FST has been working with ‘Bunkers in Baghdad’, a 501 (c)(3) public charity, to support their program for U.S. soldiers abroad and veterans at home. Since our introduction to the charity, we’ve been very impressed by the scope of Bunkers in Baghdad and the impact it’s had on the lives of our armed forces. It seems only natural that golf equipment would provide some easy activity and stress relief for our soldiers and we are glad to see Bunker’s working devotedly toward that end. For us, the decision to support them with an assortment of clubs and steel shafts was all too simple. We even provided some trim instructions!
The scope of Bunkers and its impact has been catching on having quickly garnered the attention of both the public and golf industry. Since the charity’s first shipment in late 2008, Bunkers in Baghdad has rung the bell on the New York Stock Exchange, seen public news media coverage and garnered support from industry leading company’s like Callaway Golf. To date, Bunker’s has distributed over 600,000 golf balls and 19,000 fully assembled clubs to its network of support programs. Those are some incredible numbers (although we’d guess a few balls go missing in the desert) considering the charity only made its first delivery a year ago this month. Plan on seeing Bunker’s continue its growth and hopefully gain some new supporting partners in the future.
Based out Buffalo, New York, Bunkers in Baghdad has been great supporting our armed forces and helping promote the game of golf as well. For us, the decision was simple to help in any way we could. To be honest, we tried sending more shafts but they wouldn’t take them! Apparently, most of the charitable support they’ve seen has been in complete sets. Still, we’ve offered our continued support for Bunker’s as they continue to grow. To the team at Bunker’s in Baghdad thank you for your efforts!
