Another question we frequently saw at the PGA Merchandise Show regarded how player’s should fit into KBS coming from a frequency designated shaft such as the Project X or the Rifles. With KBS, we’ve blended a combination of both weight and frequency sorting. Basically, the KBS Tours come designated by a flex whether it be Regular, Stiff or Extra Stiff. For each of these flexes there is a corresponding weight and frequency that the shafts are extremely consistent on. The table below should explain: (Note: the table below is only for our taper tip irons.)
FLEX |
WEIGHT |
FREQUENCY* |
Regular Flex |
110g |
5.1 |
Stiff Flex |
120g |
6.1 |
Extra-Stiff Flex |
130g |
7.1 |

With the above numbers in mind, it is important to note the KBS design provides a unique club ‘feel’ for its frequency of stiffness. The step-pattern and soft tip allow players to fit into a slightly stiffer flex versus some of our competitors products. This and other characteristics like: swing speed, swing length, ball flight, trajectory, distance, etc are also important indicators for providing a player with an exact fitting. Thus, custom fitting has taken off as the best way to purchase smartly.
